Supporting Open Source
I am an advocate of open source software. The ones I use the most are Linux, Blender, Inkscape, along with numerous others. Blender Foundation is starting its next open source project Durian. This will focus on creating and shoring up Blenders tool for visual effects. In order to help they are doing a dvd campaign. It is $40 for the dvd's. Included will be the movie in HD, all of the project files, making of, art work, interviews, tutorials, etc... also being named in the credits...well worth the price. If anyone is interested in supporting the Durian project go to this link.

Death Knight
This was done for my character modeling class. I had started it early and we were suppose to turn in a concept sketch of what we were going to do. I had most of this completed by that time, I just rendered out a front, side and 3 quarter view, put those in Inkscape and had it convert those into vector, printed it and done...stylized concept art.
This is the "concept"

Where I've come from
While waiting for my creek scene to render with better grass I was cruising through all of the stuff I've done at the Art Institute over the past three years. I love looking at the old models I did when I first started and to see the vast improvement I've made. I think its good to look back and reflect on what has transpired because then I know I've come from somewhere.

KFC Raptor
Final project for hard surface and organic modeling is to make a dinosaur. I decided on a raptor. On the suggestion of my friend Joe I added in a chicken leg and a KFC bucket.

The importance of backing up
On my bear, the one that is shown in the render here, the file ended up becoming corrupted. It was the save for my hair settings...so I basically lost a ton of work that I put in on the hair. Now I have to re-set it up. At least I didn't lose everything but a loss is a loss.

Pretty Toy
This was inspired by the song by Velvet Acid Christ called Pretty Toy. I did the original in pencil, charcoal and ink in black and white. I've redone it in Photoshop in color.
I will do a few more tweaks to it, but so far I like it.

I Love You Bear
My new blog
Into a brave new world I go. What I hope to do with this blog is show off stuff that interests me and also show off my art work. I look forward to getting started and hopefully everything will go well.
